Martha Mondays: Stuffed Onions
Posted by in FoodI only made one of these onions (in November Living, not online yet) because I knew I wouldn’t like it (I don’t like Italian sausage or fennel) and the kids wouldn’t eat it. I had hopes that Mr. MarthaAndMe might eat it, but he did not care for the onion. He thought the stuffing was good. I don’t quite understand the concept of eating an onion, even if it is stuffed. Maybe the rest of you liked it and we’re just weird? It wasn’t hard to make – just took some time. It was also pretty with the red color. Sassy Suppers chose this one, by the way.
I want to let everyone know we have a new member – Ashley at Lady Tailor. She will join in starting next week. Welcome Ashley!

Brette, the pessimism made me laugh, although I completely understand. I have held off on doing this as I am going to make it part of my Thanksgiving dinner/lunch (its up in the air at the moment!). I have never eaten a stuffed onion – do you think a white onion might be nicer? Did you get my email with my pick for next week? (Sorry about all the questions).
I made mine. I just haven’t had time to post it yet. Sorry I picked something you didn’t like.
Don’t be sorry! I like to try new things and in doing this blog I have made things I didn’t think I was going to like and ended up liking. I think it’s fun to try new things no matter what. I make the project every week no matter what and sometimes there will just be things that I don’t care for. Not a big deal!
Hi Pru. I didn’t get your email. Can you resend? I wasn’t trying to be pessimistic, just honest. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings!
I’m sending you the email again, I thought you wrote in a funny way, and I admire that you have done every single project. I wasn’t trying to make you feel bad.
Pru
I really enjoyed the November issue of “Living.” Great looking and great recipes!!! I’m glad Sassy chose from the magazine rather than the web. I will be making my stuffed onions on Thanksgiving eve. I think they will make a very nice presentation, and the stuffing sounds delicious. I guess some people will eat everything, and some people will pass on the onion container and just eat the stuffing.
Brette, it’s going to be really hectic to participate on Martha Mondays around the holidays. Will we be having Christmas and New Year’s off?
My results are posted. Maybe Pru and Ana can fiddle with the recipe to perfect it 🙂

Hi Ana. Yes. Our last project is 12/19 then we start up again on 1/9.
I love onions. In the south, people eat raw onions with a lot of foods. Since my dad was originally from Arkansas, i grew up with this tradition. There is one restaurant here that serves raw onion with its meals. That being said, I do not like cooked onions, but I’m wondering if this might be nicer with a sweet vidalia?
Thank you very much for the warm welcome! I am really looking forward to the adventure.
