Martha Mondays: Cheese Straws
Posted by in FoodWell, as you can see, I didn’t exactly end up with cheese straws! Thanks to Megan at Megan’s Cookin for choosing this one. This was really easy to make – dump it all in a food processor and away you go. I couldn’t get the dough to come together though. I tried pressing it with my hands, but I could not get it to make logs which I could roll out. So I ended up making little crackers instead, which worked out fine. I really, really liked the way these tasted, but next time I would to make them thinner. These would be great at a party. I’m keeping this recipe!

These aren’t like cheese straws that we would normally have – we have them with puff pastry, but they look good. I am running late and haven’t done them yet. They look tasty though.
They’re definitely completely different from what I think of cheese straws as being too. They’re more like cheese coins. But they’re really good and if you can get them to take on a shape, they’re not hard to make.
I’m glad you like them. I’m doing mine today and was going to try the cracker way too. Wish me luck! 🙂
I’m making mine later today. Thanks for the tip, we’ll see if we get straws or coins.
Pru, that’s how I make cheese straws…with puf pastry!
For once I’m actually on time!!! I really liked these. You can see my pics along with my adapted directions here. http://sassysuppers.blogspot.com/2010/11/martha-mondays-cheese-straws.html
I had a cheese straw craving last week. Was lazy and just bought mine though.
I was hiding my face in embarrassment because I was going to be late and now I see I’m not the only one. Will make them later tonight and post tomorrow. Thanks for the tips!
I’ve never had cheese straws, but they sound wonderful!
I always come away from your blog wanting to cook everything I see! I’m trying these for Christmas Eve.
Happy Thanksgiving!
