Martha Mondays: Molasses Ginger Cookies
Posted by in FoodThanks to Tiny Skillet for today’s project, Molasses Ginger Cookies. I am a big fan of molasses cookies and was interested to give Martha’s version a try. I made one change in the recipe – I did not add white pepper, since I do not like pepper in my cookies!
These turned out nicely – all crinkly on top and they smelled divine. There was too much ginger in these for me. They had too much bite to them. Other family members liked them though, so they have not gone to waste. I’ll be interested to hear what others think!

I found them a bit heavy on the ginger, but I am growing to like them and took a little break from work with a cup of tea and enjoyed it more this time. Work colleagues enjoyed them too.
If I made it again I would only use half the ginger I think. Just too much for me really. Other than that, this is a nice cookie.
I just looked at the recipe because these kinds of cookies are my total weakness. I’m not sure I’d make them cuz I’d eat the whole batch!! However, it only said “1 freshly ground white pepper”. What does that mean? One twist of a pepper grinder? Except who has white peppercorns in a pepper grinder? Or did the recipe skip the teaspoon measurement? I probably would like the pepper in it. It makes it a little spicier and more interesting.
It means one peppercorn. Which I didn’t have and didn’t want to use anyhow. You’re supposed to have (sez Martha!!!) a little coffee grinder that you use JUST for grinding your spices Alene! Don’t we all?!
Oh, how I wish I lived close to you so I could try all of the recipes you make! 🙂
Come on over! Pull up a chair. I wish I could come over and see the Little House in person – I feel like I know it so well from your blog.
I finally got my cookies posted, better late than never! 😀
They look gorgeous as always!
