Martha Mondays: Thanksgiving Table
Posted by in Crafts | Holidays | Home and Decorating | Martha MondaysThanks to Karen at Karen and Charlie’s Kitchen for choosing this week’s pick-your-own project – Thanksgiving tablescapes. I liked the one where you make a small pumpkin into a candleholder, so I did a trial run with that, which looks sort of lame since it’s crooked. I guess you need a straighter pumpkin to get it to work! I just hacked away at it with a knife to make the hole, then pushed the candle in. I like this idea a lot, even if mine wasn’t the greatest in execution!
Here’s a photo of a centerpiece I bought a few years ago (I think I got it at the grocery store to be honest!) and which I really still love a lot.

I did the wrapped hurricane vases which were pretty but need some extra work next time. This looks good but could do with another try maybe. Will this be featured in your decorations for Thanksgiving? My results are up: http://www.perfectingpru.wordpress.com
These are very nice Pru. Like mine though, I agree that it needs tweaking (more color would be even prettier). And it was very nice that you participated even if you don’t do Thanksgiving (which is sort of sad, it’s such a nice holiday with no commercialism attached at all really). I don’t know if I will do mine for the table. I would need to buy some other candles since I don’t have anything the right color really. And to be honest, it’s just the 4 of us here. If I were having a crowd I would feel more inspired to go nuts decorating. The other factor is that after Thanksgiving dinner, we always start putting out the Christmas decorations, so I would literally be tossing it out minutes after dinner is over anyhow.
Sorry it took me so long to post mine but it’s finally up. You know me. . . . http://sassysuppers.blogspot.com/2010/11/martha-mondays-thanksgiving-table.html
