I’m giving away a copy of Handwritten Recipes: A Bookseller’s Collection of Curious and Wonderful Recipes Forgotten Between the Pages by Michael Popek, published by Perigee. This is a really fun book. A used bookseller collected recipes he found stuck in the pages of used books in his shop. For each recipe, he includes a photo of the actual handwritten recipe that he found, the book it was found in, as well as a typeset version of the recipe for easy use. Some of the recipes include photos of the results. It’s a fun and quirky collection and one I enjoyed, kind of like poking through someone’s personal recipe collection.
The book was sent to me for review by the publisher without any expectations or requirements.

This sounds like such a fun book! We hit up used bookstores whenever we go to a new town. This summer I picked up a scrapbook of clipped-out recipes someone had pasted into an old, oversized checkbook. So cool.

This book looks like a great addition to my collection…. I have some books with nothing but hand written receipes I give out to newly married family members as wedding gifts.

Handwritten recipes are fun + heirloom hand-me-downs-& usually yummy! I have my familys’ handwritten recipes going back to late 1800’s! It’d be fun to see & try others’ family recipes, too!

Fabulous idea for a cookbook. Something very intimate about sharing recipes people write down. I know my mom copied out favorites and stuck them in her cookbooks.
