CSA Update

We joined a CSA this year and I have been going every week to pick up my share. While we were away, my mom got my share. We’re now at the point in the year where I bring home bags and bags each week. This week I came home with a quart of potatoes, onions, 14 tomatoes, squash, zucchini, beets, carrots, cucumbers, Swiss chard, green pepper, kale, a big bag of lettuce greens, a watermelon and U-pick beans and cherry tomatoes. I also picked some dill and cilantro.
Our CSA also has a U-pick flower section, which I am taking advantage of every week and am really, really loving. This week I brought home enough for two beautiful bouquets. These flowers last at least a week, so I always have fresh flowers now. I need to buy a nice big basket 
to use when I go to pick them. It makes me so happy to have fresh flowers in the house.

I love fresh flowers in the house but it can really add up after a while financially. How great that your CSA has them. They look beautiful. Doesn’t it just brighten up your day to walk in a room and see them?
It really does. During the rest of the year sometimes I treat myself to whatever flowering plant is on sale at the grocery store, just to have something alive and pretty to look at. I always said I would love to get the flowering plant of the month subscription or a bouquet of flowers every week and now I can pick my own each week. It’s so much fun – and they last much longer than cut flowers you buy.
That’s a great perk from your CSA. My father always used to bring flowers home when he did the grocery shopping (after they were retired). He said “Confucius says, ‘spend one dollar fro bread, one for flowers.'” Actually I think MY DAD said that, not Confucius, but its still a good line.

Sigh. I wish we had a CSA we could join.
U pick was closed today! Horrible, crushing blow. No fresh flowers this week!
