Martha’s Pick: Fekkai Shampoo
Posted by in Martha's PicksI finally was able to try Martha’s Pick from May Martha Stewart Living – Frederic Fekkai’s Ageless Rejuvenating Shampoo. I was excited to try this since it is a name I’ve heard and I think Fekkai does (or maybe did?) Martha’s hair. It sounded like a real “product of the stars”! This was on back order so I waited a while to get it. I paid $35 for 7 ounces, plus shipping. Eek.
The shampoo smells nice and has a nice consistency and feel. It lathers really, really well. I used this for a week. And I wasn’t impressed. My hair was limp. Now, I have very curly hair and I do not straighten it. I like my hair with body and curl. This shampoo made it look sad and stringy. Definitely not for me. I can’t say how someone with straight or wavy hair would like it. All I can tell you is it’s not something I’m interested in shelling out for. So far Martha’s picks are not impressing me! I’ve tried four. I only really liked one, but it was overpriced.

I love reading your Martha Picks. Interesting that for the money, these products dont just shine.
There’s a book out there called something like “take me to the drugstore” or “read this before going to the drugstore” which centers on the idea that you can get really good beauty products by buying the cheap stuff. I am starting to believe that is true. None of these products seem to be worth the hugely inflated price tag.
Supposedly if you go to SAKS FIFTH AVENUE on September 17th with a regular size bottle of whatever shampoo you can trade it in for a Fekkai one.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing that. Maybe some readers in NYC can do it.
Thanks for the warning. You’ve saved me from shelling out all that money!

all fekkai products make me break out. totally not worth the money. can you return unused portions and they should give you a refund…. if you want to try a premium shampoo I would recommend the Phyto line.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve never heard of Phyto, but will check it out. I use John Frieda now and love it.
I also tried the shampoo and for the money am not too keen for it but will continue to use it up or give it away. After chemo I can’t get my hair to curl like it used to so that may be the problem. I am just happy to have hair, long (4″) hair after a long time so I feel guilty complaining about shampoo!
Dorothy – congrats on surviving chemo and getting hair back! You deserve the very best shampoo after that!
