Martha On Demand
Posted by in Martha on DemandI’ve decided to shake things up a bit. I’m officially calling on you (yes, you, anyone who reads this blog!) to tell me what Martha recipes you want me to make. I’d love to get reader suggestions and then I’ll do one a week or so. I’m thinking I’ll occasionally post a call for suggestions to keep the well filled. I’ll try to do one recipe every week and will post my results here for all to see. So if there’s a Martha recipe you’ve been wanting to try and wondered if it was any good, leave me a comment and I’ll test drive it for you. Simple or complicated, it doesn’t matter.
I would especially love it if you would spread the word. Here’s a tweet that could be posted:
@MarthaAndMeBlog is doing #Martha on Demand – tell her what you want her to make! http://wp.me/plYaL-17h
Or feel free to Facebook it. The more input the better.

This is a great idea 🙂 I’ve often wanted to try Martha recipes but have certainly hesitated at times thinking – “I wonder if this is any good and worth my time…”.
I’d love to see you make “Golden Papaya and Crab Salad” from Pg. 77 Martha Stewart’s Healthy Quick Cook book. If you need me to scan & email a recipe let me know 🙂
I’d love to hear about the veggie burgers in the July/Aug issue of Everyday Food. I’m always disappointed by homemade veggie burgers- they never stand up to be being on a bun and just seem to turn to mush. Would love to know if this one is different!
(BTW- the tinyurl in your tweet above seems to go to a “page not found” on your blog- not sure if it’s a problem on my end or an error in the url)
Martha does a mustard seed and yellow pepper rice that I love, I’m wondering what tweaks you might recommend.
Not sure if you’ve tried it yet, but these lemon meringue cupcakes look delicious: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/lemon-meringue-cupcakes?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/fancy-cupcakes#slide_1
If you can find it on her site and give me the link, I’ll add it to the list!
Unbelievable. I just generated a new one and updated the post Thanks for letting me know. The veggie burgers sound interesting!
Sarah – thanks for this suggestion! I don’t have that cookbook, so I would love it if you sent me the recipe.
That does sound good! This is a great list everyone is putting together!
It’ll be like having my own Martha Igor! Great idea!
If you haven’t tried Mrs Kostyra’s meatloaf, it’s the best ever. What a great idea!!!
I’ve made a couple of Big Martha’s recipes and they’ve mostly been good. This is a great idea to add to the list!
I live to serve.
second the request for trying the veggie burgers. also welcome your investigation of other Martha vegetarian dishes.
Meatloaf! Thank you. I was stumped for dinner. I have fresh broccoli raab to sautee in garlic to go with it. You guys always save me!!
It’s summer — and I’d love some great cold soup recipes.
I don’t regularly read Martha (though I do often read your blog) but I would love some suggestions for healthy yummy easy ways to cook FISH (especially some that my kids will eat). I feel like we haven’t been eating enough fish and I know it’s a good healthy choice but how how how do I cook it?
One thing I make a lot is sole. I dip it in an egg wash then in seasoned breadcrumbs or panko then just cook in a little bit of olive oil. You can sell it as a flat “fish stick”. My kids like scallops which I often just pan fry at a high heat so that they caramelize on the outside. Sometimes I make a quick citrus glaze in the pan at the end. My son will eat any fish he catches (I cook it like the sole), so that is one thing that works for me. Have you tried fish tacos? Kids like those. And breaded shrimp is another easy one b/c kids will dip those in ketchup. I keep a bag of frozen uncooked shrimp and just defrost a handful and bread them for my son for quick dinners.
I went strawberry picking recently and tried to make the Strawberry hand pies on Martha’s site – it was kind of a fail. Though, it was a major win, too! My 2 year old, helped dump all of the pie crust ingredients into the Cuisinart and had so much fun rolling her pie dough out! I should caveat that I did not use white flour, since I just don’t buy it…anyway the recipe turned out just – ok.
I also second (or third?) any good review/recipe of a Martha veggie burger, preferably one made of some sort of bean and not soy.
Ok, the veggie burger is definitely on the list. I’ve got to get the ingredients and will make it.
I tweeted this – great idea! I’d love some ideas for lunches for commuters – in other words, if I need to go to a client and don’t want to buy, what can I bring that’s a bit unusual and good?
count me in for veggie burger recipe, fish dishes, and, since it’s the season, some summery salads that include protein.
I don’t know if Martha has any gluten free recipes, but I’d love to see you make something sweet and baked that’s sans-gluten! She’s got to have a cookie or cake recipe somewhere, right?
