Thanks to Sara at Sassy Suppers for choosing this week’s project – earring storage in a paint palette from March Martha Stewart Living (pg 48). I thought I had a paint palette my kids used to use for painting, but I couldn’t find it, so I thought I would show you how I store my earrings. I have plastic cases with little cube dividers like you might find for fishing tackle or for hardware like nails or screws. I put one or two pairs in each space and this keeps them together and makes it easy to find them. If I were more organized, I would arrange them by color, but I’m not!
The plastic cases are inside a big 8-10 drawer plastic unit that sits on a low shelf in my closet. I have a different drawer for each type of jewelry and also keep my shawls and scarves in it.

Wow, that’s great, and it will hold a lot of jewelry! I will have to post how I store my earrings too. The paint pallet I have only has six spots. 🙂
Blimey Brette, I thought I had a lot of earrings but you are certainly the winner of that contest! I didn’t do the project as it was never going to work for me, but I too posted photos of my jewellery storage!

I didn’t have any paint pallets but need to find jewelry storage. I like your tackle box idea.
I have a nifty HANGING earring storage that works nicely and is made of wood. There is almost no horizontal space in our bedroom (it’s very small) so storing earrings on the wall is a good space saver.
I like that idea. When my daughter was little we made a hanging hair accessory storage area. It had pegs for scrunchies and elastic pony holders and little tip out drawers for barrettes. Of course, it only works if a person puts things where they go!
I bought an “earring tree” online last year, and it works well as both decor and storage. Of course, the tree is filled to capacity, so that prevents me from buying more earrings. Probably for the best!
Hi Pru – sorry this got stuck in spam for some reason and I just found it now. Thanks for sharing your storage. Yes, I do have a lot, but that’s my lifelong collection! I’ve only gotten rid of a few over the years. Somehow I can’t seem to donate them even if I never wear them. There are about 5 pair that I wear regularly but I always feel like you never know when I might need some!
I like the idea of something that stores in a drawer that can have an open top. Good idea.
This is a great idea. I have a little jewelry box with a jumble of tangled jewelry I rarely wear, because I never have time to untangle it in the morning.
I don’t wear a lot of jewelery or even own a lot, but I am in dire need of little organizing things for all sorts of reasons (mostly small action figures and other toys). So I think these could work nicely for that.
I want one of those earring trees do. But can’t find one.
Any tips susan or marthaandme — or anyone else?
If you felt crafty, I think you could make your own. I know I never could manage such a thing though! I just googled “earring tree’ and bunches came up. It’s hard to buy something like that without actually seeing it though.
I love it but where did you find the plastic cases with that size dividers? I’ve looked everywhere. Thanks,
This a couple of years old. I think they came from a hardware store.
